Woodbury is a vibrant community of more than 50,000 residents, located just southeast of St. Paul, the state's capital. The city is in close proximity to Minnesota's largest employer, 3M, and to the St. Croix River Valley, providing a beautiful natural setting and year-round recreational opportunities.

According to the 2000 Census, the median age of the city's residents is 33.4.

The city contains many attractive residential areas. Eight small lakes, most with public parks and pathways, dot the city. Neighborhoods are connected by more than 95 miles of multi-use trails, and residents have a wide choice of housing, ranging from apartments and townhomes to large-lot estates.

Recreational opportunities abound in Woodbury. The park system features 2,800 acres of dedicated park land, 38 community and neighborhood parks, and a swimming beach. The city's municipal golf course, Eagle Valley, opened in 1998. Woodbury also operates the Bielenberg Sports Center which houses two indoor ice arenas and a field house with walking/running track. The outdoor complex includes 14 athletic fields, picnic facilities, and play equipment.

Woodbury is the home of major employers, such as State Farm Insurance, The Hartford, Assurant (formerly Fortis), TARGET.DIRECT, eFunds, EcoWater Systems, and Dean Foods/Land O' Lakes, plus many smaller businesses and retail shopping enterprises. Woodbury is also home to Woodwinds Health Campus, which is anchored by a full-service acute care hospital.
